Whew, we made it! If you feel like you need to clean out your closet, send care packages to goodwill, or totally reorganize your kitchen, there’s a reason for that. Saturday’s full moon is the culmination of this month’s internal life review. You probably have spent some time reflecting on some old stuff, if only to put it in it’s proper compartment. Remember that whatever you let go of only makes room for the new, positive and healthy stuff. Friday’s full moon is a time for releasing and a time for celebration.
I asked the Archangels what is the most important thing to pass along during the full moon, and I drew the “Compassion” card. Archangel Zadkiel helps us to soften our hearts towards other people, places, and experiences. He also helps us transcend old negative and limiting beliefs. During this full moon however, Archangel Zadkiel’s message is that we take that same compassion we have for other people, and offer it to ourselves, (Hmmm).
According to Lena and Pat at the Power Path, there’s a lot of planetary movement coming up. No matter what is happening to your outside world, remember to care for the inside, so that things stay in balance. Moon phase bathing with essential oils like Bergamot, Orange, Rose, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Tangerine, and Tea Tree are all be great choices, along with mindfulness activities like yoga, meditation, walking, and journaling.
Mercury goes direct on Sunday, May 22nd. Whew, again!
Sending you good vibes,
Full Moon is Saturday, May 21, at 3:14, MDT.
This moon is a set up for great movement and manifestation. It is a productive time where much power and energy can be harnessed for fueling your new game. If you have been consistent in your trust and consistent in your truth and determined in your intentions, then your path will be clear, open and ready for traffic.
If you are still in the unsettled place of confusion, ambivalence and fear of change, you have work to do.

Sagittarius Full Moon
Sun in Gemini ~ Moon in Sagittarius 1º
Sat. May 21 3:14 PM Mountain Daylight Time
(Sat. May 21 9:14 PM Greenwich Mean Time)
On Friday, the Sun wakes us to begin our yearly time in Gemini, and on Saturday the bright light of the Full Moon in Sagittarius will fill the night. These are mental signs concerned with the mind, the flow of information, learning, communication (Gemini) and with how we interpret that information and experience into meaningful beliefs and constructs to create culture, law, religion and education (Sagittarius). Gemini seeks information; Sagittarius seeks truth and meaning. With Mercury ruling Gemini and Jupiter ruling Sagittarius, we have an invitation to wash the windows on our cloudy, habitual thinking patterns and expand our beliefs beyond what was handed to us by our parents and education. Jupiter’s influence on the Moon brings in a needed dose of enthusiasm, expansion, intuition and faith that new ground can be found. We can break the invisible ceilings like the English soccer team in Leicester who beat 5000-1 odds to win their first championship in 134 years this spring! (Sag rules sports).
Like Bernie and Trump beating the odds in the American presidential primaries, the pressure is on for breakthroughs in every form. At a personal level, we can experience this movement in our thinking patterns that cause us resistance, suffering and contraction or in our world view that keeps us divided from all the other beings on the planet. Here’s an open portal to expand consciousness – meaning: seeing Spirit move through you and around you to give you the abundance, wisdom, and support you are meant to have. And with Moon-ruler Jupiter in Virgo (practical application) involved in a Grand Trine in earth signs with Pluto in Capricorn (powerful transformation of structures) and Mercury in Taurus (mental power), we can bring that expanded consciousness right down here to the earth plane where it can prove really useful! – To your feelings of self worth, to your ability to get your life organized and working, to transform your relationship with your inner authority.
Mars is in an extremely powerful position. All dynamics at this juncture are magnified by Mars retrograde motion and powerful placement exactly conjunct the Full Moon and (of course) exactly opposite the Sun. When in proper balance, Mars is positioned to serve the Sun’s will and purpose. Mars has only grown brighter and brighter of late and will be at its brightest on May 22 when it is exactly opposite the Sun and closest to the Earth – seek it out in the night sky this weekend rising with the Moon in the East at sunset. Here is the planetary representative of our courageous, action-taking, bold, passionate and decisive masculine self – Mars! God of War! The Hero now begins his next journey of challenges and tests to seek maturity and wisdom. If you’re interested in a detailed study of Mars two-year psychological cycle, I suggest you check out shamanic astrologer Eric Roth’s article here.
Yes, Mars is just the fuel you need to assert yourself, initiate action and accomplish your goals, but don’t underestimate the aggression, impatience, righteousness and anger that can get unleashed when this energy is thwarted. Mr. Trump is the current poster child for a Mars persona with Mars sitting right on his rising sign, he embodies this archetype for the collective and people can’t get enough of it apparently.
You’ll be happy to learn, Mercury is in apparent standstill at Full Moon ending its retrograde motion on May 22 at 14º Taurus. Any planet is strengthened and empowered at standstill as it changes direction, and Mercury will be fully out of its shadow period and back to cutting new ground on June 7. Mercury is the ruler of this Gemini Sun period until we celebrate Summer Solstice on June 20. Mercury and Gemini have dominion over travel, siblings, relatives, neighbors, all forms of information exchange and communication, teaching, learning, speaking, writing, your arms and hands, lungs, nervous system and anything related to these categories. The retrograde period may have brought lessons up close and personal in these areas. You’re taking them seriously, impacted by what you’ve seen. What is valuable to you has been clarified.
Let me say a word about ‘closing squares’ here:
When two planets come together in a conjunction they begin a new cycle, then they next meet in an ‘opening square’ like we are having with Uranus squaring Pluto for the last 3 years after their conjunction in the mid 60’s. ‘Opening square’ is a time when you look at what problems have arisen and need to be taken care of pronto, obstacles to your intention set at the conjunction. Next, comes the opposition where the shadow aspects are illuminated, and paradox is held while seeing both sides of an experience/issue. Then, the ‘closing square’ is where a turning away from the old takes place, the bill comes due for anything not handled previously, some wrenching and tearing may occur, and a shift in consciousness takes place in preparation for a new cycle to begin. We watch the Moon go through this cycle every month.
I mention this because Saturn, our teacher and Lord of Karma, is completing two closing squares this year making 2016 crunch time.
This month on May 26, we have the last exact square of Jupiter and Saturn (14º) in a 20-year cycle begun in May 2000. These two also squared in August 2015, and March 2016 on the Lunar Eclipse. Jupiter/Saturn often has to do with the society and the economy, and what we have here is a crisis time that holds opportunity if you have taken your lessons seriously and faced responsibilities, burdens and fears. Saturn in Sagittarius is where we can let go of those limiting beliefs and meaningless obligations and get free of our inadequacies. Crisis/opportunity. Realism/Optimism.
Saturn will also soon complete a three-pass closing square with Neptune that began in November 2015 and will come again on June 18 with the final pass on September 10. This has to do with setting boundaries, rescuing others, giving too much, and dissolving structures that don’t serve you among other things, anywhere illusion, wishful thinking can reside. It’s waking up to reality after being in a dreamscape.
Saturn-Jupiter-Neptune formed a T-Square formation last fall and are repeating that now March to July. It strengthens the drama, idealism, and resentments, and it also gets them out in the open. Everything that shows up has a lesson for you. These planets are in mutable signs. We are learning to adapt, we are recognizing the spiral as the energy of movement, and we are learning to be flexible. Transition takes a massive amount of energy, so you need on time/off time, rest and rejuvenation time. Rigidities and resistance will show up as suffering. Figure out where you’re hanging on to old energy and feel the (Neptune) pleasure of surrender.
My point is this: This is a challenging year. Closing squares aren’t easy times. People are squeezed. These cycles begin anew in 2020. New cycles will commence for Saturn-Pluto, Jupiter-Pluto, and Jupiter-Saturn in that year. We are now doing the work to clear the runway for the initiation of those major new cycles in 2020.
Sagittarius in its fullness of the Moon holds the dream of a higher vision, what lies just over the horizon. Let The Archer point the way to the highest possible outcome. We all are the bow and our vision of where we’re headed is the arrow.
